OOTD - The Embroidered Skirt

Missguided is one of my favourite brands of all time and a large percentage of my clothes are from there. I love their collaborations with various celebrities and influencers, and I absolutely fell in love with this skirt from the Caroline "Receveur x Missguided" range!

The embroidery trend has been massive this year and I can't see it going out of fashion any time soon.

I have paired this skirt with my grey long-sleeved Missguided top and my Primark black boots, you don't need to add anything to the outfit as the skirt really does speak for itself!

I love to wear pretty dresses and skirts throughout Winter and I always wear my black tights from Primark which have a fleece lining inside which keeps me just as warm as wearing jeans.

What I got for my 20th Birthday..

As a lot of people may know, I celebrated my twentieth birthday last Saturday and I had the best weekend. I can't believe i'm no longer a teenager, time is going way too fast!

Just a quick disclaimer before I start this post, I am in no way boasting about the presents I received. I asked if people would like to see what I got for my birthday on Twitter and 90% said yes. I feel very lucky to be surrounded by so many kind and generous people so I hope you enjoy reading about what I got!

My mum bought me these beautiful River Island boots, I love how tight they are on my ankles and they are actually quite comfortable even though they have a heel. I also had my Clothes Show ticket from my mum which I will be writing a post on very soon!

FFS - Friction Free Shaving

Friction Free Shaving is probably one of the best monthly subscription ideas I have come across. Every month, they deliver your four blades to use that month, making sure you are changing your blade on a weekly basis. I didn't realise how important this actually was, and I used to change my razor probably once a month, maybe even longer. I used to come out in a rash every time I shaved my legs and they would be itchy and sore too, I didn't even think about the fact it could actually be that I was over-using my razor blades.

Christmas Gift Guide 2016 - Boys

Every year, I find boys so hard to buy for! Whether it's my brother, my dad or my boyfriend, none of them give me any hints as to what they would actually like to receive! So, I have put together this gift guide for anyone who is in the same boat as me and needs some inspiration!

If you missed it, my girls christmas gift guide is here.

I have also split it into separate sections so it is easier to navigate!

Christmas Gift Guide 2016 - Girls

As the countdown to Christmas begins, I have started to think about presents for people. I love giving presents and I can't wait to start my christmas shopping this week.

I have put together my favourite presents for girls, whether its your Mum, Sister, Girlfriend or Daughter, there is something for everyone and every price range!

You can probably notice my obsession with anything Rose Gold and Marble!

Under £200

Currently the top of my Christmas list, hint hint!

GHD will forever be my favourite brand, the only straighteners that can tame my naturally curly hair! This set is really good value for money too.

OOTD - Cross-over Top

I am constantly dressing for comfort at the moment and I tend to just throw on some variety of top/jumper with my leather jacket and black jeans. It is such an easy outfit and takes little imagination when i'm up early!

I am really loving this blush pink colour at the moment, it goes with pretty much everything. There are many tops out there with a cross over style, but I find some of them are a little too revealing and are better suited to going out. I think this top is perfect for every day as it adds a lovely detail to what is otherwise quite a plain outfit.

I have paired this top with my trusty leather jacket, which was from Topshop around 5 years ago! I am currently looking for a replacement as it is a little well-worn! I am also wearing my Topshop black skinnies, which you have probably seen in most of my outfit posts as I do live in them!

My Hair Saviours

If you know me, you will know the struggle I have had with my hair. My natural hair is thin, short and just does not grow past a certain point. This is partly due to genetics and partly due to the fact I hated my naturally curly hair when I was younger and straightened the life out of it!

Autumn Spa Day - Lion Quays

Last month, Jack and I went to Lion Quays for the first time after hearing so many good reviews from others. We had the "Autumn Glory Spa Day" which included a full day in the spa, two twenty minute treatments and lunch in the restaurant which was £75 each for the day.

OOTD - The Wrap Shirt

Firstly, an apology for the lack of blog posts at the moment. Currently trying to get the hang of being back at university and the work load that comes with that! I still have so many ideas and new outfits to show you all, so I am trying to balance my time better so I am able to do so.

Anyway, I've been loving shirts this year, they go with any season due to the sheer variety of them. I love a basic shirt for when i'm working in the salon as they look smart, yet they are still comfy and practical.

This outfit is a smart-casual look, which you could wear to work but then also wear for evening drinks.

I love the wrap design of this shirt and it comes in 5 different colours! It is quite cropped so I would recommend wearing it with some high-waisted jeans or trousers and i've also put a little top underneath so it's not so low on the chest area.

Commuting to University - The Reality

As I embark on another year commuting to university, I thought I would write a post on what it is actually like to commute as I do get asked about it a lot.

I decided a long time before starting university that I didn't want to live there. I couldn't stand the thought of being away from home, away from my support network and having to live with strangers. I did look around some accommodation, but I just couldn't see myself actually living there. I was also really worried about how much money I would actually have to live on at university, by the time I'd have paid my rent, my student loan would have left me with around £5 a week to actually live on. I would have also had to completely start over in terms of my nail business as I would have had to leave all my regular clients at home, or alternatively get a new job. My whole life is in Shrewsbury and I just couldn't face uprooting and starting again.

September Beauty Favourites

How is it October already?! I seriously can't believe how fast this year is going, but I do love Autumn/Winter, especially as my birthday is in November. I have put together a post on all my favourite beauty buys this month. I am usually so un-experimental with makeup and tend to stick to the same thing but I have really been trying to use new things recently, and I am loving them!

Coconut Lane UK - Haul

I have recently discovered the most amazing online shop for pretty quotes and marble accessories! I came across Coconut Lane on Instagram and I was seriously in awe of their gorgeous designs and "instagrammable" imagery.
They have so many different designs to choose from and a quote to fit everyone. They also do beautiful accessories and homeware.

Of course, I had to get my favourite quote.

OOTD - The Grey Duster

Although summer seems to be clinging on at the moment, i'm so ready for Autumn/Winter fashion.

I have already been getting a few pieces ready for the colder weather and I wanted to show you my favourite jacket at the moment - The Duster. This trend has been around for quite a few seasons now and they are the perfect "in-between" jacket, especially with how unpredictable the weather is.

This duster is another one of my Primark bargains, it was only £20! For such a wardrobe staple, it's so affordable and they also do it in Black and Nude.

Dinner party with friends

A dinner party is the perfect excuse to eat way too much food and drink cocktails in the comfort of your own home. I love nothing more than spending time with friends and catching up on everything.

I received these fabulous cocktails in the post last week and I couldn't wait to try them, especially as Freya and I are big fans of cocktails! Funkin' are a brand I had heard of before and I love their branding/packaging. They are pre-mixed cocktails, to which you just add alcohol. They tasted like we had made them from all the separate ingredients, they were so good! My favourite was definitely the Raspberry Mojito.

Lash Lifts - step by step

As some of you may know, I am a nail and lash technician in between being at university. I trained in lash lifts this year and it is such an amazing treatment I wanted to explain to you all what it does and how the procedure is carried out.

There are many different systems that people use for lash lifts, I trained in Shrewsbury at Dragonfly Beauty and Training Studio in the system "Dolly Lash".

It is a treatment that quite literally lifts your lashes upwards, which makes such a difference, especially if you have really straight lashes. It makes the lashes look so much longer without damaging your natural lashes.

I have seen a huge increase in clients for this treatment over the summer. It is a brilliant alternative to eyelash extensions as it is so low maintenance. They stay lifted for around 6-8 weeks, then start to drop naturally. They are also quite a quick treatment, taking around 45 minutes.

The pressure to succeed

From the age of fourteen when you have to sit down and choose your GCSE options, you are expected to have an idea of what you want to do when you 'grow up'. Then, when you leave school and have to pick your subject(s) at college, you have to narrow your choices down even more!

Most people have a dream of what path they want to go down when they are very young, for example, I wanted to be a pop star, just like a lot of girls aged five. Some people do follow that path their whole life, and I think it's amazing when people can do what they dreamed of when they were younger. In a way, they are really lucky because they've known exactly what options they needed to take and what choices to make, in order to get there.

OOTD - Festival Vibes

I love festival outfits, and although I haven't been to any festivals myself this year, I love seeing everyone's photos of what they wore. It's one of the only places you can wear things that wouldn't usually go together, put your hair on the top of your head, spread glitter all over your face, and still look good.

I was so jealous of everyone at V festival this year, especially as it was only down the road from us. But, as you saw in my "glamping" post (read here), I just can't do camping.

I thought I would put together a couple of outfits I would have worn if I'd have gone to a festival this year (minus the heels).

Both outfits are from Esperar Boutique in Shrewsbury. There are so many summery outfits in the sale there now!

Date Night Box Review

Jack and I had a very exciting delivery last week, something I have wanted to try for ages! "Date night in a box" is such a brilliant concept, it means you can have a night in together, with everything provided for you.

This was the contents of the box, as well as instructions on how to use it all.
The box is called "Chocolate Heaven" and is inspired by the saying "life is like a box of chocolates", which is a really nice idea.

How to..Become a mystery shopper

I have always wondered how you become a "Mystery Shopper", I thought it was one of those types of jobs that you could only get into if you knew someone in the industry or if you were approached to do it.

I have come across so many websites that claim you can become a mystery shopper but they all seem to just be out to get your details, and you never get anything from them.

OOTD - Blush Wrap Top

I absolutely love the blush colour that is on trend at the moment. I found this gorgeous wrap top in New Look and just couldn't not buy it!

I live in my black skinnies, so I also treated myself to a new pair from Topshop as my two pairs both had holes in!

Tanning Truths

I love having a tan. Ever since I can remember, I have always been jealous of those with olive coloured skin and people who go really brown in the sun. I am naturally pale, and do not tan easily either.

When I was younger, holidays meant tanning time. I was obsessed with getting a tan, so much so, that I would force myself to stay out in the blaring hot sun just so I could see those tan lines at the end of the day, even if it meant burning my skin. I don't even enjoy sitting out all day in the sun, I actually get really hot and bothered. I was so obsessed with getting a natural tan, that if I didn't, I would feel really down and depressed. It sounds so silly, but it really did mean that much to me!

In more recent years, I would get a spray tan before going on holiday, which made me feel great when I first went on holiday. But after a couple of days the tan started wearing off, and I would come home paler than I went!

Earlier this year I decided to ditch the fake tan and try to build a bit of a base tan before I went on holiday using sun beds (sorry dad!). I was using them around 2-3 times per week, and if i'm honest, it was such a chore! I didn't enjoy the heat, and I felt guilty for using them because I know how bad they are! I carried on regardless because I was so desperate to achieve that natural base tan. One day, i'd gone to the tanning shop straight after finishing a busy day at work, having eaten nothing. I always went on for 6 minutes but after about 3 I started feeling really unwell, I was light-headed and the room started spinning. I had to come out of the booth after 4 minutes and somehow managed to pull my clothes on. As soon as I opened the door to leave, I had to sit down and then everything went black. It was such a horrible feeling, I was so embarrassed and so disappointed in myself for putting my body through that. I've not been back to the tanning shop since, and to be honest, I don't think I will step foot in a sun bed ever again. In a way, it was probably a blessing in disguise as it really did put me off for life!

Beauty Buys - July/August

I have put together some of my favourite products I have added to my beauty collection over the past month. I love anything to do with beauty and I'm always looking for new things to try out. I feel like you can never have too many nude lipsticks, and mermaid-inspired GHDs are always a winner in my book.

Calgel - Nail Course

Last weekend, I attended my two day Calgel nail course at their head office in Milton Keynes. I am now fully trained in both Calgel overlays and sculpted nail extensions to extend the natural nail bed.

Calgel is a low maintenance nail system that lasts up to 6 weeks. It is perfect for those who have peeling and splitting nails, that just won't grow. Calgel protects the nail and helps it to grow, without drying out the nails. It is flexible on the nail, yet strong which allows movement with the natural nail.

I wanted to write this blog post for two reasons; Firstly, I haven't yet found another person in Shrewsbury who does Calgel so I wanted to let people know what it actually is, as it's not very well known here. Secondly, I wanted to give an insight to anyone who is thinking about going on this nail course.

Affordable Fashion - Primark

Being a student, I have to live on a budget (well..I try). I like to buy a lot of clothes, so I can keep changing my style and keeping up with the trends, so they have to be affordable.

The high street shops are ruthless with each other. You can see something in Topshop one week for £40, then it's in shops such as Primark and New Look the following week for less than half the price. They do copy each other, so you just have to know what to look for. I go into shops that would stretch the budget a little just to get an idea of what they are doing, they are the ones who get the trends in first and they can charge a premium for this.

Now, I know what Primark used to be like. Especially the one near me. There were clothes all over the floor, staff who couldn't care less and you really had to root through EVERYTHING to find something worth buying. But, I really feel like they've completely turned this around. I absolutely love Primark now, especially for fast fashion. It's the best feeling when people just can't believe something is from Primark, and you've paid about £6 for it!

I have put together some of my favourite trends from last month and I don't even have to say sorry to my bank balance for them.

Buying affordable clothes that don't look cheap is the best way to have new clothes all the time without breaking the bank, that's my excuse anyway.

Pentreclawdd Glamping

I, like a lot of people, can not do the whole camping thing. Waking up in a freezing cold tent with no electricity and embracing the "great outdoors", is not my idea of fun. I do, however, enjoy the idea of "glamping" (glam-camping).

So when my dad bought my boyfriend, Jack, a night away at some glamping pods near us for his birthday, I was really excited to see what it would be like.

The pods were around 30 minutes from us, based just off the A5 near Oswestry. We picked up a takeaway from the town centre and then headed to the pods. We arrived around 8:30pm to find we were the only people staying there that night, so it was really peaceful.

Hello..

Im Becci. Im nineteen years old and I live in Shrewsbury, Shropshire. I am currently at University studying Fashion Buying and Merchandising in Manchester, but i'm hoping to change my course this September (more about this soon). I've adored fashion since I was young, always admiring clothes and keeping up with the latest trends. I spend the majority of my money on clothes and beauty products, so I thought a blog would be the perfect way to show my favourite purchases and express my inner shopaholic.

My style

My style can go from casual to overdressed within hours. I'm mostly found in a slouchy jumper, leather jacket and skinny jeans, but I also love dresses and skirts, depending on my mood.
I love fast fashion, I buy a lot of my clothes from high street brands such as Primark, New Look, Missguided and Pretty Little Thing. I think these brands are the forefront of fast fashion, they are always on trend, with affordable clothes.
I buy a few investment pieces each year but I love to change the rest of my wardrobe regularly.
